Shoes 6614

From bed linens to note paper, picture frames to clothing, if you’re new to Geneva, the sizing of everyday household goods may be very different from what you were used to in a previous location. In this post, we’ll share tips for finding the right size of something you cannot be without on Geneva’s streets, buses, and trams: shoes.

Switzerland’s shoe sizing follows metric measurements, which is very different from standard US/American and UK/British sizing.

More tips for finding the right shoe size in Switzerland:

  • As with any shoe purchase, do be sure to try on both the left and right shoe to make sure the pair fits.
  • Different manufacturers, or different factories serving the same manufacturer, often differ slightly in their sizing and fit.
  • Need a subtle size adjustment? Stores such as Coop, Migros, Manor, Globus, and Ochsner sell inserts and heel savers to help customize your fit.

Handy shoe size conversion forms/tables can be found online here and here.
