On my drive through Troinex/Veyrier today, I noticed fields of sunflowers beginning to bloom, just a single blossom here and there. Like many ex-pats, we are often away from Geneva during the summer. Thus we miss the beautiful blooms and sunny colors in mid to late July, as the area’s sunflower fields reach their peak.

If you find yourself in Geneva over the next 1-2 weeks, don’t miss this chance to enjoy these gorgeous fields. And for the photographers out there, this is a can’t-miss opportunity to capture some stunning images.

Where to start? Consider driving (or taking bus 32) near the Château du Crest in Jussy. Many fields south of Geneva are planted with sunflowers, so you can also check out Soral, Bernex, Avusy, Troinex and more. If you’re on the other side of the lake/Vaud, you can see fields near Geneva’s airport continuing as you travel towards Lausanne (and near smaller villages like Gingins and Lully).
