Geneva’s Department of Culture and Sport manages five concert halls: The Alhambra, the Casino Theatre, the Grottes Theatre, Victoria Hall and the Pitoëff Theatre.  The Alhambra in particular is designed for contemporary music concerts, and has the capacity for 750 people.  The Alhambra is located at the base of the Old Town, near the Molard tram stop.  To see their full program of upcoming events, click here.

If you’re in the mood to move, check out the Deluxe show, coming to the Alhambra on Friday, April 10, 2020.  This French electro-pop group puts on a fun and lively show, with lyrics in both English and French.

For an example of their live show, click on the video below. Tickets start at 40 Fr.

Another artist coming soon to Alhambra is John Butler, an American/Australian musician known for his vocals and guitar skills. He fronts the John Butler Trio, a roots and jam band that formed in Australia in 1998.

He’s currently touring solo and will be playing at the Alhambra on Friday, May 1, 2020, with tickets starting at 61 Fr.  Here he is in 2019, performing with the John Butler Trio at the Sydney Opera House:

Last, if you’re missing a bit of twangy folk/bluegrass, consider making the trek to Lausanne’s Les Docks to see The Dead South, a Canadian quartet sometimes described as a darker version of Mumford & Sons.  They are touring in support of their 2019 album, Sugar & Joy, and will bring their hillbilly/pioneer aesthetic (and their banjos, mandolins, guitars, whistles, and more) to Les Docks on Thursday, May 14, 2020.  Tickets start at 48 Fr.
