Appreciate a wild, chaotic and non-crowd-controlled NYE? You may need to head to Paris or London for that experience. Last night, Geneva celebrated in a typical low-key fashion, with several thousand revellers gathering lakeside on the Right Bank to enjoy music, food trucks and fireworks. The evening, now in its 5th edition, was organized by three women with a theme of equality and diversity.
Three separate sound stages were set up, each representing a different city and syle of music (Geneva (Afrobeat), London (House and Gospel) and Brussels (R&B), with DJ’s getting the music underway at 10 pm. Following the fireworks show, launched from the harbour, the crowds dispersed in a very Swiss-like and orderly way, according to the city’s police chief.
