Whether you’re interested in marching or plan to head into the city this Saturday, January 21; the Geneva Women’s March for Dignity will be gathering at the Jardin d’Anglais in Geneva from 11:00-13:30.
By now you are aware of the Women’s March on Washington and yes, most would conclude it is politically motivated. But I urge you as citizens of Geneva (a city of 41% non-Swiss) and of the surrounding area, to read the objective as outlined on the Geneva Women’s March for Dignity Facebook page (linked here ). As a woman, mother and active member of a women’s organization; I am personally interested based on the following excerpt:
“Global and US women stand together in solidarity with our partners and children for the protection of our rights, our safety, our health, and our families — recognizing that our vibrant and diverse communities are the strength of our societies. We invite you to march with us across the globe, in the spirit of democracy and honoring the champions of human rights, dignity, and justice who have come before us and who stand among us today.
The mission of the Global Women’s Marches is not only to stand together in solidarity for the protection of our rights, our safety, our families and our environment — it is also to build relationships and mend the divides between our communities. Only together can we march towards a world that respects the civil rights of all of its citizens.”
If you are interested in participating, RSVP to email@example.com. MEN ARE WELCOME!
Directly after the Women’s March for Dignity, Solidarity for Humanity will be holding a rally at Place de Nations at 14:00 with speakers from a range of backgrounds and experiences including being bi-racial; part of the LGBTQ community; having Hispanic heritage; working with immigrant children; working in environmental law; and growing up in a poor, violent neighborhood while helping keep peace and staying safe in this environment. More information about the rally speakers can be found here.
