jazzfestposter2015Beginning next Friday, July 3, the Montreux Jazz festival returns! This annual event just an hour away from Geneva (by car or by train) is one of the most popular events of the summer in the Lake Geneva region. The festival lasts for sixteen days, until July 18, and will feature more than 1000 musicians.

The festival was founded by Claude Nobs in 1967 and has grown over the years to include more than just jazz; artists and performers from across the musical spectrum will be performing at this year’s festival. Although many of the shows require advance ticket purchase, there are many free shows in and around the main venues as well.

Transport & Accommodation

Because of the festival’s popularity, hotels book early. If you do not want to, or cannot, overnight in Montreux during the festival, the SBB/CFF/FFS will be adding special trains to and from Montreux July 3-18. As part of the festival promotions, you can buy a special festival ticket for outward and return journeys valid until 5 a.m. the next morning.
