This evening and all day tomorrow, don’t miss the annual Fête de la Tomate celebrating all things “tomato” in the Carouge neighborhood of Geneva! Festivities kick off tonight at 18h00 near the Place du Marché, behind the Migros Vibert.
From more than 50 vendors, tomato-themed treats will be on offer including gazpacho, bread, sauce, and even macarons. The festival boasts more than just tomatoes, though. Artisanal sausages, confits and mustards, roasted meats, and local cheeses will be sold alongside the tomato products.
In addition to the food, there will be live music both Friday and Saturday evenings. During the day on Saturday, children can enjoy pony rides, sheepdog demonstrations, face painting, balloon sculptures, more than 500m² dedicated to farm animals, and more.
Access: Parking is available at Place de Sardaigne; by public transport, you can take buses 11, 21, 22, 42, and tram 12 to the stop “Place du Marché”.
Cost: entrance to the festival is free; some of the children’s events may require a fee (such as the pony rides).
Good to know: As with any local festival, expect longer lines at food stalls and restrooms.
