It’s that time of the year … to change the calendars to 2014, and to look for a holiday gift for your loved ones. Now available for purchase at the AIWC is something that fulfills both needs: the AIWC Geneva 2014 Recipe Calendar.

This 13-month calendar boasts more than 50 recipes submitted by AIWC members, and each month has a theme. For example, March spotlights meatless dishes, July focuses on grilled delights, and September’s recipes incorporate the best seasonal produce. The recipes I am most looking forward to trying are from January 2015: Winter in Switzerland. Reblochon frittata, tarte tatin, and Zuercher Geschnetzeltes will be the perfect dishes for Geneva’s cold, gray winter.

For the month of June, there are seven “finger food” recipes. One of them, the roasted red pepper spread, was my contribution to the calendar. It’s my go-to recipe for a party – you take jars of roasted red bell peppers plus pantry staples, pulse everything together into a food processor, and serve with pita wedges for the perfect party dish. And now I have six other easy, delicious recipes on hand for my next gathering.

Recipe_calendar_insidepreviewBeyond each month’s recipes, tips for cooking, preparing food, and maintaining a balanced diet are sprinkled throughout. Plus, the resources included at the end of the calendar are a must-read for any Geneva cook or gourmand – chocolate recipes, local resources, farmer’s markets, school holidays, conversion tables, and more.

Personally, I know my mother and mother-in-law will love receiving a copy of the calendar this Christmas. Who knows, maybe we’ll all be trying the same recipes one evening!

To purchase the calendar, stop by the AIWC offices during regular business hours (Monday – Thursday, 09:00-16:00; Friday, 09:00-13:00). The AIWC is located at 11 Route de Chêne, fourth floor, in the Eaux-Vives neighborhood of Geneva.

Each calendar costs CHF 20, or purchase six for the price of five (CHF 100). All proceeds benefit the AIWC.

We are a group of international women living in Geneva, Switzerland.  If you would like to join the AIWC, please visit our website at http://www.aiwcgeneva.org/.
