La rentrée, or the return, is upon us. This period, from the end of August through the beginning of September, corresponds with the end of summer holidays for children and adults alike. At the AIWC, we have begun preparing for two of our biggest annual events – the Fall Open Houses.
Like Swiss clockwork, the Open Houses are held on the 2nd Wednesdays of both September and October. For 2013, they will take place in the Club’s front rooms on September 11 and October 9 from 10:00 – 12:00.
If you have yet to attend an AIWC Open House, we look forward to welcoming you to one of these busy and fun events. What can you expect? Sign-in to win one of several door prizes, and then over steaming cups of fresh-brewed coffee and plates of delicious home-baked treats, you will meet many of the Club’s 40+ activity leaders. Each leader will have a reserved place at a table, where they can answer questions about their activity, introduce themselves to prospective members, and provide additional details about the AIWC.
From language lessons to hiking, bridge to photography, the AIWC blog to jewelry making, all of these activities and more will be represented at the Open Houses. In addition, we will highlight new activities ranging from Ikebana flower arranging, a re-launched Creative Kids group and upcoming life coaching workshops.
These events are designed for everyone to enjoy, from newcomers to long-time AIWC members. It’s a wonderful opportunity to catch up with friends after summer holidays; learn more about new AIWC activities, events, excursions and volunteer service; and to meet new friends and share perspectives about the AIWC and Geneva in general. Children are welcome to attend and babysitting will be provided in the kids’ playroom.
As always, delicious complimentary food, coffee and refreshments will be served.
