One overcast morning, a few of us got together for a walk around Geneva.   We met at the flower clock and made a game-time decision whether to go left bank or right bank.

We picked right bank and decided to go up to Chateau de Penthes and back:

The walk is 4km one-way and provides some nice diversity in scenery.   First, we started along the lake, checking out the new additions for the upcoming fête de Genève.

Next, we explored Parc Perle du Lac.  We pointed out where the free movies, Cinetransat, takes place on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights in the summer.   (For more info, visit http://www.cinetransat.ch/2012/)

Next, we continued into Jardin Botanique.   This was actually my first time in the garden.   I enjoyed the wildlife and beautiful flowers.

I had never seen flamingos in real life…only the kind in people’s yards!

After the 4km walk, we had a coffee at the café adjacent to the Chateau.   It has a lovely terrace and is a great place to meet up with friends.   Afterwards, a few of us wanted to check out the museum Suisse dans le monde which is inside the chateau, but we were running to close to lunch….they close at noon for lunch-break.

All in all, it was a great way to see some Geneva sights while getting some exercise, 8km in total.
